What is your minimum order quantity?
One 20ft FCL, which is approximately 19 MT of natural sesame in 50 kg bags or 18 MT of hulled sesame in 25 kg bags. Programmes of 100 MT and above are normally shipped in 40ft containers instead, at 26 MT of natural sesame or 25 MT of hulled per FCL. Smaller trial quantities can be discussed alongside a first container booking.
Which Incoterms do you quote?
FOB Lagos as standard, and CFR or CIF to main ports on request. State your preference in the enquiry and we will quote accordingly.
Can you send a pre-shipment sample?
Yes. We courier 500 g – 1 kg samples of the offered lot, and shipment can be made subject to your approval of the sample and, at your option, a sealed retention sample.
Which inspection agencies do you work with?
SGS, Intertek and Cotecna all operate at Lagos and at origin warehouses. Pre-shipment inspection is arranged at the buyer's option and named in the contract.
Whose analysis is binding if our results differ from yours?
Neither of ours, by preference. We contract on FOSFA terms, under which the goods are warranted to meet the agreed specification at the time and place of shipment, and the specification is settled through the contract's sampling and analysis clause: samples drawn and sealed at loading by FOSFA member superintendents, analysed by FOSFA member analysts, with sealed sets retained on both sides for three months against arbitration. FOSFA leaves the precise basis to the parties, so we agree it in writing before quoting rather than leaving it to a dispute. Tell us the basis you normally trade on.
What documents accompany each shipment?
Certificate of analysis, certificate of origin, phytosanitary certificate, fumigation certificate, packing list, commercial invoice and bill of lading, couriered ahead of the vessel or telex-released, per contract.
When is the sesame season?
Harvest runs October–December across the belt, with new-crop arrivals from late November and peak trading November–March. Forward bookings for first arrivals open from August.
